Do No Harm won First Place in The 2024 Fall BookFest for historical, fiction, and fantasy.
24-year-old Evelyn Waldron is training to be a surgeon at Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1911. But after surviving a train crash without a scratch that killed everyone else onboard, even her medical knowledge can't figure out why she's alive.
Enter a new professor and a mysterious brothel owner who have different ideas about her predicament. And, of course, conflicting romantic interests. But when she is taken from the life she once knew for a mission on the grandest ship in the world, she'll have to make a choice that may break her forever.
It may be 1912, but there's spice to be had. Both books in the Do No Harm Duology contain explicit sex scenes, coarse language, talk of death, dead bodies, and suicide. You've been warned - but won't be disappointed.
Let's be honest, you're half here because you love Titanic-era fashion. I get it. Me too. In DNH, I made sure to describe Evie's outfits and she even gives you tutorials on how she gets dressed each day. Live the life of an upper-class woman who's both brilliant and beautiful with the most up-to-date fashions. Except wearing gloves. Evie hates those things.
This duology is different than your usual fantasy romance in a couple ways. First of all, don't expect a simple read. My intention was to make something that includes choices that make you think, characters that are complex, and historical accuracy. Second, don't expect an easy romance. And don't expect an easy ending (not a bad one, just not a simple one). Oh, and you might have really strong opinions on the characters (not always in a good way). I might have planned that.
But I really hope it makes you think.
So for the readers who are ready for an intellectual challenge with spice and magic, I got you.
